If you have email, you've probably been receiving a flood of phentermine-related emails in your inbox. Phentermine is being pitched by spammers and online pharmacies like it's an incredible new discovery, but it isn't.
Phentermine is one of the older diet drugs approved by the FDA (1959). Though chemically similar to amphetamines and methamphetamines, phentermine doesn't seem to be a stimulant. Phentermine is intended for short-term use only; there have been no studies about the safety or effectiveness of long-term phentermine use.
Phentermine hydrochloride belongs to the sympathomimetic class of appetite suppressants. It is intented for short-term use (6-12 weeks) only.
Chemically, phentermine is nearly identical to amphetamines and methamphetamines. For this reason, those who are taking phentermine will likely test positive for amphetamine usage during drug tests.
Phentermine is the "Phen" in such notorious chemical cocktails as Fen-Phen and Dexfen-Phen, which were pulled off the market after reports of heart disease and heart valve deterioration among takers. The FDA never banned phentermine itself.
Phenterminet affects the brain's hypothalamus and decreases certain types of neurotransmitters which stimulate the appetite. Because the hypothalamus is the part of the body that also controls such vital functions as sleep cycles and body temperature, there are some side effects associated with taking phentermine.
There are other compounds that affect the hypothalamus to suppress the body's appetite, most notably the African cactus hoodia gordonii. Scientists aren't entirely certain of the precise mechanisms of these functions, but the active molecules seem to bond to the hypothalamus's glucose receptor sites. Thus, the hypothalamus thinks the body's blood sugar is adequate and doesn't turn on the appetite switch.
Phentermine is not a fat burner like the supplements we review on this site.

Real Hoodia is our top diet supplement recomendation this month. This product uses 100% Pure South African hoodia gordonii. Hoodia has seen a huge amount of publicity in the news lately and is purported to be the most impressive appetite suppressant ever discovered. Hoodia Gordonii is a rare South African cactus-like plant (a succulent, to be exact) which only grows in the Kalahari desert.
This plant works by tricking the brain into thinking that the stomach is full. Therefore, you eat less without any hunger pains or discomfort. At the moment, finding REAL hoodia is very hard since there is far more demand than supply. Thus many of the brands on the market today have little or no real hoodia. Real Hoodia XH is without a doubt authentic. We were amazed by how effective this formula was at suppressing appetite without side effects. It's a great addition to any diet plan - or none at all. These attributes have earned Real Hoodia XH our top supplement recommendation. Check out Real Hoodia - Click Here.
